KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- HW Lima Sdn Bhd, the sole host of this year's edition of the prestigious Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) Exhibition, is leaving nothing to chance in ensuring the premier regional event continues to perform as a business platform.
"Our top priority is to ensure LIMA continues to perform as a business platform. To realise this prime objective, we are building on our good work previously to ensure the biennial event proceeds smoothly without any hitches.
"We believe this year's LIMA will proceed smoothly," said Managing Director Ahmad Dzuhri Abdul Wahab.
While it was an honour to be picked as the sole organiser of the event, he said his company would do the utmost for the event to be participated by 325 maritime, aviation and military exhibitors from 25 countries.
LIMA 2009 will be held in tourist haven Langkawi from Dec 1 to 5.
Previously, LIMA was co-hosted by two different maritime and aerospace organisers.
HW Lima, the maritime segment host since 1997, has been mandated to solely host this year's LIMA edition.
Started in 1991, LIMA has emerged as the premier destination for aerospace and maritime players, targeting the Asia-Pacific market in the civil, defence and enforcement sectors.
On business contracts expected to be sealed during the five-day event, Ahmad Dzuhri said: "Suffice to say it will surprise everyone especially in this difficult time."
LIMA 2007 netted RM13.199 billion in business deals.

Airbus To Showcase Latest Civil Products At LIMA 2009
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- Airbus will be present at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2009), with a display featuring its latest civil products, as well as the A400M from Airbus Military.
Airbus will also display a 1/20-scale cutaway model of the A380, offering a view of a typical interior layout on the world's largest passenger aircraft, it said in a statement on Tuesday.
To date, Airbus has won 202 firm orders for the A380 from 17 customers. These include Malaysia Airlines (MAS) which has six A380s on firm order for delivery from the second half of 2011.
Also at the stand will be a model for the all-new A350 XWB.
" Currently under development, the long range A350 XWB will have the widest fuselage in the mid-size category and will burn 25 per cent less fuel than similar sized aircraft in-service today," Airbus said.
The aircraft has already been selected by AirAsia X to meet its future long haul requirements with a firm order for 10 aircraft.
In the cargo market, Airbus will display a model of the new A330-200F freighter.
" Capable of carrying 64 tonnes of freight over 4,000 nautical miles, this latest version of the popular A330 is currently undergoing flight testing and will enter service next year," it said.
Airbus said visitors would also be able to view a model of the new A400M, the most modern and versatile transporter combining a wide range of tactical, strategic and logistical capabilities.
Malaysia is among the customers for the aircraft which is under development at the Airbus Military.
Airbus comes to LIMA 2009 as it celebrates 40 years of innovation since the agreement to launch its first aircraft programme back in 1969.
LIMA 2009 will take place in Langkawi from Dec 1-5.

2009 Green Month 2009 on Langkawi Island
It requires a good understanding of the environmental problems ahead, and the sacrifices that need to be made, in order to make Malaysia and Langkawi two of the greenest parts of the world. Actions though rather than words are important in the lead up to the United Nations Climate Change Conference Copenhagen 2009 to be held in Sweden in December.
Langkawi Island was recently the host for ‘Green Month 2009’, the ‘Save Our Earth’ campaign and several other conservation awareness efforts. Among the more important events during the month-long celebration was the ‘human signage’ at Pantai Cenang that involved YB Datuk Nor Azmal Mohd Nazir, Deputy Secretary for the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Malaysia’s popular singer, Zainal Abidin and some 4,000 students from 23 schools primary and secondary schools in Langkawi. A recycled musical instrument workshop conducted by Zainal Abidin was another highlight of the Langkawi event.
The human sign read ‘Climate Change – 1 Malaysia Langkawi – Save Our Earth’ and all those who gathered spent hours forming the lettering to show their commitment to the need for climate change not only on an island such as Langkawi but all over world.
One of the convenors of ‘Green Month 2009’, Mr. Anthony Wong Group Managing Director of AOS Conventions & Events and part owner of Frangipani Langkawi Resort & Spa said, “As we race against time, we need to stop and realise that environmental conservation is ongoing. With the lead up to the United Nations Climate Change Conference we all need to make a commitment to conserve the environment for current and future generations.”
“The Earth desperately needs our stewardship as our future is dependent upon how we manage resources such as water and energy and how we deal with wastes.”
The main objectives of ‘Green Month 2009’ and ‘Save Our Earth’ were to identify measures to reduce wastes, to increase environmental awareness and, to have the community participate in conserving Langkawi’s valuable tourism assets.
These ‘Green Month 2009’ activities were not-for-profit as all contributions are to be channelled to the ‘Save Our Earth Fund’ which has been established to assist environmental non-governmental bodies and universities in conducting environmental research and implementing sustainable projects.
Based on the 4R green principles of reduce, reuse, recycle and rethink, Malaysians can make a valuable contribution to environmental protection. The Frangipani Langkawi Resort & Spa has championed more than 100 ways to reduce environmental impacts upon the environment. These include recycling materials, rainwater harvesting, producing compost fertiliser for landscaping and establishing local community participation in organic farming.
All these activities are directed to finding a solution that makes a positive environmental impact in order to overcome climate change issues and economic challenges.

An astounding USD3.9 billion in transactions was recorded in 2007 from numerous business deals, MOUs and letter of offer, and others. This year, over 450 exhibitors are expected to participate with over 80 aircrafts and 70 warships and vessels in attendance. Shrimpz Prawn Farm @ Langkawi
The Langkawi archipelago is a cluster of 99 islands just off the coast of Kedah, close to Perlis and just south of Thailand.
Pulau Langkawi, noted for its legends and beautiful views, is the most developed in the group. It has good beaches, abundant marine life and offers an idyllic retreat from the urban jungle. A duty-free port, this island of scenic, tranquil landscapes, has become a favorite destination for local and international visitors alike. For locals, Langkawi is a haven for cheap liquors, cigarettes and of course … not forgetting chocolates. And this … brings me to my favourite topic, good food. Most traveller resign themself to hotel food which is very unfortunate indeed. With very little effort, you can rent a car and drive around the island which in actual fact, is dotted with really good cuisine, both local and international … and not to mention, lot’s of fun !
During my recent trip to Langkawi Island, I was lucky enough to locate a good spot, Shrimpz Prawn Farm - which I must insist that you visit … on your next trip to Langkawi Island. Shrimpz, is located less than a kilometre from Underwater World, about 5 kilometres away or 10 minutes drive from Kuah town.
Shrimpz is not difficult to find, but of course you will need to find the signage as you drive along the road. Once you’ve spotted the bright green signage, you proceed to drive down the slope towards the farm and almost instantly noticing the acres of wetland, almost similar to a padi farm. - which I think is probably swarmed with live prawns.

Malaysia Hotels Make Sure They Offer Lodging Experience
Attracting scores to tourists and visitors to its land every year the country of Malaysia is among the most prominent South Asian nation. Malaysia is located on the Asian peninsula and Borneo Island. Both culturally and historically rich this land makes for a great tourist destination. It is not without a reason that Malaysia has been increasingly attracting vacationers from the entire world over. Tourism in Malaysia has been booming on the past years. And hence Malaysia Hotels make sure they offer a lodging experience to its visitors and guests that it makes them bowled over its services and standards.
Some of the major tourist destination in Malaysia includes:
Kuala Lumpur
The city of Kuala Lumpur is the largest and the capital city of Malaysia. The city is the chief hub of financial, administrative and cultural life of the country. Extremely high on arts, architecture sports and recreation the Kuala Lumpur offers amazing entertainment options to the visitors and tourists. The buildings in the city are a blend of Islamic and Moorish architecture style and are truly awe inspiring. Among the many interesting sights are Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur’s Central Market, Genting Highlands and not to miss the Petronas Twin Towers that prides itself for being the world tallest twin towers in the world.
Langkawi
The island of Langkawi is a union of 99 islands in the Sea of Andaman. Located in the neighborhood of northwestern Peninsular of Malaysia, Langkawi belong to the Kedah State of Malaysia. The largest island of Langkawi is the eponymous Pulau Langkawi. Boasting of the scenic views of mountains of Peninsular Malaysia, this island is dotted with gorgeous sandy beaches, verdant woodland and pristine lakes among others.
Penang
The city of Penang in Malaysia is very mesmerizing and interesting. The pretty Georgetown of Penang houses some of the every finest architectural splendors of colonial era. Forever reverberating with fun and frolic, the ambience and locales of Penang is exceedingly bewitching. Enjoy strolling around the town, shopping in the colossally huge malls, and digging out on the delicious food of Penang. In the city one of the best things to indulge oneself into are fishing, exploring the vivid culture of China and of course walking around the lush jungle of Penang.
Malacca
The city of Malacca in Malaysia is also known as the Historical State. Although Malacca is small state it is among the best known holiday spot. Being a sea side city of Malaysia, Malacca is dotted with beautiful resorts. Rich in cultural and tradition, this city is very different from the other ultra modern cities of Malaysia. The architecture of the city is highly influenced by Portuguese style architecture. But when it comes to avenues and markets of Malacca you would realizes that there is a bit of Chinese ambience to it.
Accommodation in Malaysia is easy to find. Besides lodging Hotels in Malaysia you may even opt for private apartments, inns, hostels and lodges. Falling in different categories and price brackets hotels in Malaysia are excellent.

Langkawi: Eagle Island
Photo 2
langkawi international airportFlying in from Singapore via Air Asia, we arrived in Langkawi tired and sleepless from our night sessions with friends. At the airport, we changed enough money to last us for the Langkawi and Kuala Lumpur legs of our trip. In Singapore and Malaysia, we found out it is always best to change money at the airport as the rates are so much better. For a small airport, there are a lot of shops at Langkawi International, probably because the whole archipelago is duty-free! We also came right smack in the middle of the Malaysia Grand Sale so we were very excited about the prospect of some good shopping.
Taxis are not metered in Langkawi but trips in between popular places are fixed rate so there is no stress over haggling over fares. There is a cab counter at the airport where we booked one to take us to Pantai Cenang where our resort, Beach Garden, is located. Fare was RM18.
ACCOMMODATIONS
First thing that struck us on the drive towards the resort was that Langkawi is very much like the provinces in the Philippines – lush green trees, mountains, farmlands, animals grazing, simple houses. The only difference is that
Photo 3
our room at beach gardenthey have grade-A roads and being a duty-free archipelago, even the simple houses had late-model cars in the thatched-up garage!
You know you are in Pantai Cenang when you see the resorts popping out one by one along the roadside. Beach Garden has a pretty, unassuming frontage but once you step in their reception, you know you are in a good resort. Service is A1 and the rooms are very nicely-done. Decor seems to be Balinese, with plenty of wooden artwork and ornaments all around. Small touches like umbrellas, ashtrays and a bench right outside your door are very much appreciated.
The restaurant, where you will find the Wi-Fi connection, faces the beach and is a very nice place to relax in. As there are only 12 rooms in the resort and many of them occupied by long-staying guests, people tend to congregate in the restaurant and swap stories of their adventuresfor the day. Food is very good and the servings are huge!!! Breakfast is free and you can choose from the ala carte menu. We tried as many of them as possible – everything was good and abundant – but our favourite has got to be
Photo 4
our room at beach gardenthe Beach Garden Breakfast (or something like that). It’s a huge platter of cold cuts, an enormous basket of breads all baked in-house, an assortment of cheese and a plateful of tropical fruits – and that’s one per person! All juices are fresh and coffee is unlimited. Ahhhhh. If we ever go toLangkawi again, we will surely stay at Beach Garden again if only for this breakfast!
DAY 1: ORIENTAL VILLAGE, LANGKAWI CABLE CAR AND SHOPPING!!!
After having a very good lunch at the Beach Garden restaurant, we got the concierge to call a taxi for us. Destination: Langkawi Cable Car. The Langkawi Cable Car, located at the Oriental Village, is a must-do when you visit Langkawi. The views are breathtaking and the ride itself exhilarating. Tickets are RM25 each. We took a lot of pictures in the view decks and spent some scaredy-cat momentsat the hanging bridge (which is constantly moving because of the pedestrian traffic and the winds). Fantastic experience! At the base of the cable car, there is a shop for souvenirs, etc. But we were not interested so we left immediately to explore Oriental Village.
The Oriental Village is actually just
Photo 5
outside our rooma collection of shops selling snacks, souvenirs and other knick-knacks. There is an outlet store advertising designer brands but truth be told – it is all junk. There are a couple of duty-free stores that sold mostly chocolates, liquor and smokes. We bought a ream of Dunhill Blues for Kim’s boss for only RM48 and which apparently costs almost 400x more here in Australia. Oh well, everything is more expensive here. It being a very hot day, we scoured the area for ice cream and cold drinks — Haagen-Dazs is very cheap here and there are heaps of interesting ice cream flavours (Nestle, Selecta, some local brands).
I forgot to mention that instead of us just hopping from one taxi to another in between places, we contracted our driver to take us aroundfor the day. I have read that usually, for all-day tours, it costs RM60 for the first 3 hours and RM15 for succeeding hours but I’m a firm believer in promoting local commerce and was in no mood to haggle plus he was nice and had lots of information so we agreed on RM20/hour. (It would have been cheaper to rent a car – you can
Photo 6
our room at beach gardenget one for RM80/day – but it would have taken the fun out of sight-seeing, what with reading a map and asking for directions… so a taxi is a good alternative.) Anyway, so after Cable Car and Oriental Village, it was still early afternoon so we went shopping!
We asked our driver where shopping was good and he said there are 3 large malls in Langkawi. He brought us first to Langkawi Mall where we went crazy on Converse and Body Glove USA stuff. It was a lot cheaper and well, we do not have Body Glove here in Australia and neither inthe Philippines . I hoarded on The Body Shop stuff as well. We got so shopping-crazy we ran out of ringgits and had to look for a money changer to buy them.
After Langkawi Mall, we went to Jetty Point Duty Free Complex. Compared to Langkawi Mall, this was a lot busier, maybe because it’s adjacent to the port where the ferries to and from Thailand arrive. Given that we have already spent all of our shopping allowance inLangkawi Mall, we just wandered around the complex then proceeded to have early dinner.
Dinner was
Photo 7
our room at beach gardenat the wonder-full Wonderland. It is so widely popular that even at 5PM, it was full and many customers had to wait for seats. Wonderland is an unpretentious outdoor-seating restaurant beside a stinky river that serves very, very good food. You order what you like and they will cook it for you. We had a sinful feast of lobster, clam soup, squid in egg batter, garlic shrimps – OH MY GOD, it was so good We couldn’t move from our seats after
Another fascinating tidbit about Langkawi: many of the people we have come across here are well-travelled. Our “waiter” at the Wonderland, for example, has been to more places in Australia than us who have only seen Perth and nothing else. Our driver has lived in the UK, in China, and in the Middle East, I think, and has so many more exciting stories to tell than us. They say airfare is always on sale here (I believe that since with the exception of our flight to and from Perth, all our flights within this Asian trip are with Air Asia), thus many people can actually afford to visit other parts of the world and enlighten
Photo 9
small touchesthemselves I am so envious!
Anyway, after rolling ourselves off Wonderland, we boarded our “limo” for the day and asked for other places we can explore. (There is no TV in the room in Beach Garden, by the way, so we were trying to see as much of Kuah town as possible before hitting the sack.). We passed by another mall and I so wanted to buy Vincci shoes which were really cheap but unfortunately, I did not have space for it in my luggage seeing that we have several more places to go to after this, so I took one last lingering look on those pretty shoes and left.
DAY 2: STARDUST CRUISE
After a super-satisfying breakfast, we were picked up by the Stardust Cruise staff for our adventure of the day: a cruise aboard the Stardust yacht. For RM295 per person, the all-day cruise includes transfers to and from the resort, buffet lunch and unlimited drinks on-board the yacht.
We were dropped off at the base of Kilim Geoforest Park where we boarded a speed boat going to the yacht moored somewhere in the lake (river? sea?). The mangrove forest was spectacular, so much
Photo 10
small touchesbigger and healthier than what I have seen anywhere in the Philippines. There were a lot of monkeys near the base where the boats are docked. It started to rain as we went to this part of the lake where it widens out to meet the sea and got confused when the boat man stopped the engine. As it turns out,we were to see a display of Langkawi’s pride – he was feeding the eagles! There were about 10 or more eagles that came out to feed. Langkawi is not called the Eagle Island for nothing. Eagles are a staple sight in Langkawi and so is the red sandstone where the eagle in the Langkawi emblem is perched – Langkawi comes from Helang which means eagle in Malay and Kawi which is a form of red clay stone natural to the area.
After the eagle-feeding, we were finally brought aboard the Stardust yacht. Lucky for us, there was only a Singaporean family of 5 sharing the yacht with us that day. The skipper and his assistant were very, very hospitable and had plenty of stories to tell. I really did not know nor cared where they were taking
Photo 11
our room at beach gardenus that day – I was just happy to be in the sun, cruising in the beautiful islands of Langkawi (they have 99 by the way), relaxing with my iPod on, nibbling on free chips and pastries, drowning on the special cocktail they mixed just for me because I told them I do not drink beer, soaking on the saltwater “spa”. Ahhh, life is soooo good!
Lunch onboard was a mix of continental staples (pasta, bread, etc.) and local cuisine. It was good, nothing special though. There was so much food and it was a waste that they had to throw it out after since there were so few of us onboard that day and we seriously had no way of finishing off all that food. Anyway, after lunch, we just spent some time fishing (I did not catch any) and swimming. At about 3PM, we headed back to Kilim Geoforest Park and stopped by a fish farm. It was a dingy place but interesting nevertheless. A couple of hours later, we were back in Beach Garden.
After showering and resting for a while, we hit the road again, this time to see the night market in
Photo 12
small touchesKuah. We decided not to call a taxi and instead explored Pantai Cenang on foot. There were plenty of resorts, restaurants, and shops along the main road. Underwater World is on the same road, if anyone is interested. After a while, we got bored and hailed a cab off the street. We had a not-so-good dinner in one of the Chinese restaurants we saw near the market. The market itself is not so big, they sold mainly clothes. I scored a pink GAP hoodie for RM15, probably my best buy in this trip. The same item was selling in Singapore for $130! We also walked around the other market where mostly food was sold. Lots of grilled street foods, lots of colourful fruits, enticing scents, lots of cheap gadgets, interesting but you get the feeling it is not very safe. There are many other duty-free shops in Kuah town but since we have no more space (and money), we left after a while, hailed a cab at the cab stand in front of one of the duty-free shops, packed our bags, and crashed for the night.
DAY 3: HELLO KL!!!
At 11:45AM, we flew via Air Asia again, this
Photo 13
small touchestime to meet our friends Dudz and Hannah again at Kuala Lumpur. We had a brief look at the airport shops again but did not buy anything anymore. We had a slightly embarrassing moment when we took the International Flights entrance. It skipped my mind that we are flying domestic this time hehe
We had a great time in Langkawi and would not think twice about coming back. We know there is so much more to see in Langkawi – we didn’t even swim in our beach! I think you need about 3-4 days to really see what Langkawi has to offer. Maybe next time

Malaysia - Top 7 Beaches To Die For
Perhentian Islands: You could argue that when Leonardo Di Caprio chose to shoot his movie “The Beach” in Thailand, he was not familiar with the stunning Perhentian Islands! Just off the east coast of Malaysia in North East Terengganu are two islands which are known as Perhentian Islands. They are a massive hit with tourists now due to their silver sandy beaches and their crystal clear blue waters. Perhentian Islands is arguably one of the most beautiful places on this earth.
Redang Island: Not far from Perhentian Islands is that of Redang. In total it comprises nine smaller islands. Among the east coast islands this is the largest and arguably the most developed too. Designated as a marine park it’s a fantastic place for divers and snorkelers to enjoy the collection of coral reefs and various marine life.
Langkawi Island: If you have heard about Malaysia as a tourist then you will also have heard about Langkawi. Langkawi Island is actually made up of ninety nine smaller islands and is host to some of the most luxurious hotels in all Malaysia. UNESCO recently awarded Langkawi Island with “geopark” status. For the tourist to Kuala Lumpur its only around forty minutes traveling distance so there is no excuse not to visit!
Pangkor Laut Island : Off the coast of Perak State, north of Selangor , lies a cluster of fabulous islands with unquestionably some of the best coves and beaches on the western coast of peninsular Malaysia. Among them, two islands predominate in terms of accessibility, infrastructure and development - the largest island, Pangkor and her sister Pangkor Laut. Upon the island of Pangkor Laut is the Pangkor Laut Resort which is renowned as one of the best hotels in Malaysia, if not the world. It has won a number of awards over the past decade and for this alone the islands are well worth a visit!
Tioman Island: This place is popular for its beautiful soft and sandy beaches, where a great collection of underwater creatures and coral reefs can be found. It is a magnificent location to go snorkeling and even hiking, and while you are there you can stay at the Japamala Resort.
Rawa Island: Only a few miles from Tioman Island and offering similar luxuries is that of Rawa Island. This is privately owned and there is only one hotel on the island which may seem very limiting. However, its very exclusive and somewhat untouched.
Sipadan Island: Rated as one of the top five diving spots in the world, Sipadan Island is situated just off the coast of Sabah, Borneo - Malaysia’s eastern island, and previously known as North Borneo. The island did have a reputation as being a hunting ground for pirates but now its known not for its piracy but for its wonderful and luxurious beauty

Langkawi Island:Duty Free
Duty Free
Langkawi's designated Duty Free Port status makes shopping here quite fun and very popular. It carries the largest selection. Enjoying duty free status within Malaysia makes Langkawi a great place to pick up some superb bargains during your holiday, although it is neither as cheap, nor is there as much variety as you will find in Kuala Lumpur. There is a large mall called Langkawi Fair, where you can pick up the best bargains, and one of the best places to go shopping for luxury goods is the Langkawi Parade, where you can browse the high-end boutiques. For souvenir hunting, it's a good idea to wander through the markets along the harbour front and pick up locally produced handicrafts such as Langkawi Craft Complex..
Let's check out what is on sale now!

Langkawi Island Adventures
Wow, time is flying by! I looked at when I wrote last, and it was already over a week ago! I knew that as soon as I started working hard again and felt busy, that life would start to fly by! I can't believe its already mid November. And the rest of the month is going to go by faster than I'd like I think!
LANGKAWI
This past weekend I went to the island of Langkawi. It was like a proper 2 day Spring Break! One of the biggest perks about being in this part of the world is that you can be surrounded by big city life, dirty streets, loud buses flying by, and trash all over the streets, and then in 1 hour by flight, you can be in paradise! I found myself in paradise again this past weekend! Langkawi was beautiful and in my opinion, 10 times better than Tioman. Although Tioman is known around the world for its snorkling, Langkawi is more my style when it comes to a get-away! The island is quite large, so there is a lot to do. I heard of all the amazing things we could've done, but 2 days wasn't quite enough time to fit that in!
My roommates had asked if I wanted to go with the to the island the week I moved in, and my first question was, "Are other girls going as well?" They responded, "Yeah definitely". So i was like, "I'm in!" Of course boys are not going to have the same priorities as I will on an island vacation (working on my tan) so I need other girls there to hang out with! Well turns out, there were other girls that went, but they weren't particularily friendly so that was unfortunate. But, the guys were so much fun. I felt like their sister all weekend. I felt at home because they teased me and never let me get away with very seldom stupid things that I'd say. I had so much fun with them. And let me tell you, they know how to party. The island has proper roads, which Tioman didnt, and there were so many restaurants and different beach bars, etc. But I can't compare Langkawi really to anywhere else I've been. Its not like beaches in FL, nor Mexico. But I loved it. It would be so easy for me to stay there for a week at least. I hope to make it back to the Island again, maybe before Christmas.

langkawi Island, Malaysia | Wisdom Begins with Thaidy – Thaidy …
For those looking for a different cultural experience, or even just a great holiday destination, then adding Malaysia to your travel list will not disappoint. A Malaysian holiday can be a relaxed resort style getaway on one of the islands such as Sabah or Langkawi, bargain shopping and sight-seeing in the capital Kuala Lumpur, or perhaps a combination of both to let you experience the diversity of this amazing country.
Langkawi situated just off the northwestern coast of Peninsular Malaysia comprises a group of 104 tropical islands during the low tides and 99 Island during the high tides. The main island Langkawi, is 47. 848 Hectare followed by Pulau Dayang Bunting and Pulau Tuba while some of the others appear to be mere dots in the emerald green ocean when viewed from the air. In Langkawi a nature adventure had a true-blue naturalist as their guide.

Awana Porto Malai Resort Langkawi Reviews
I enjoyed my stay in Awana although I think they need to do some upgrading, eg. to provide free wifi to the guests living in the hotel. Not just limiting it to the lobby area or the bar. There is a tour desk but for some reason, I didn't see anyone there most of the times. Perhaps it was because of the bad weather.
Generally, this is a nice hotel. Scenic location. Ideal for honeymooners and families. Location is pretty good. Very close to Pantai Cenang.

langkawi:GUNUNG MAT CHINCANG (Mat Chinchang Mountain).
GUNUNG MAT CHINCANG (Mat Chinchang Mountain).
The view of Teluk Burau and Telaga Harbour at Pantai Kok with two cable cars are passing over.
Langkawi Cable car Experience
Included in a must visit place in Langkawi, the Langkawi Cable Car offers visitors a spectacular 360 degree panoramic view form “Gunung Mat Chinchang” (Mat Chinchang Mountain).
Located in at the southwest coast of Langkawi, the cable car entrance is located inside the Oriental Village which has duty free shops, cafes and a hotel to offer visitors. Tickets are sold at RM25.00 (Adult) and RM18.00 (Child) for a round trip.
The bubble shape cable cars will take you up the 45 degree incline ride. It covers a total distance of 2.2km linking the Base Station at the foothill of Mat Chinchang to the top most station call the Top Station with a total time of between 15-20 minute.
Along the route up one are able to see numerous geological features and species of flora and the breathtaking view of the famous Seven Wells Waterfall known locally as Telaga Tujuh.
There are a total of 2 viewing platforms on the top station. The platforms provide a 360 degree panoramic views of the seas, the many islands of Langkawi and even the neighbouring Thailand.
Another attraction on the mountain is the unique Curved Suspension Bridge. The steel bridge is an engineering marvel that really worth a visit.
To get there, one will have to disembark at the Top Station (second station) and head down on a short and well marked jungle trail.
The 125 metre curved bridge is suspended about 685 metres above sea level. Walking the curve path high above with the breathtaking view of the forest and to feel the bridge slightly swayed is fun and experience one can never forget.
My verdict….. The Langkawi Cable Car ride is a value for money and one should never miss if you visit Langkawi. Enjoy the fresh air, awesome view, trill and stunning sunset from Gunung Mat Chinchang. Its fun all the way!

Ironman Langkawi malaysia about The Race
Ironman Langkawi-Malaysia is soon to take place in the idealic setting of Kuah town. The race is to go ahead as scheduled on February 26, 2006 and there are still openings for those of you looking for a race in the very near future. The swim is a 3.8 km swim in the tranquil waters of the Kuah town Jetty. The marathon consists of two 21.1 km. loops on a course that is generally flat but with gradual climbs at the 4-10 and 24-30 km. marks. One thing to be aware of and possibly train for is the heat which can be anywhere from 28-35 degrees C. Also, it is a very humid heat and reminds me quite a lot of what one might experience in the Hawaii Ironman in Kona.Accomodation prices look very reasonable. Several of the major hotels in Langkawi are just minutes from the race start. However, expect to pay quite a lot for the return flight from North America with gateways from Los Angeles and New York. There is no ferry necessary from the mainland to Langkawi island as they now have their own international airport. For those looking for a last minute race, it appears that entries will be available until mid-February. If not this year, then possibly it might be an ideal race to consider for 2007. Take the whole family and make a holiday of this beautiful Ironman destination. What an opportunity to visit the “other” side of the world.

Pulau Langkawi-my favourite Holiday destination
I love Pulau Langkawi. It’s one of the most beautiful Island in the world, and also a duty free Island. I’ve been there few times -prefer to go by ferry so that I can get a closer look at d beautiful Andaman Sea on the way there. The water is so green and the atmostphere is so calm. Famous for it’s beautiful scenery as well as 99 other small sounding islands, Langkawi gets visitors from all over the world. Pantai Cenang is one of the most popular spots -and it’s the most ‘happening’ place in the island too.*wink*
Anyway on most of my visits I prefer to stay at Pantai Tengah -which is not far from Pantai Cenang , and more peaceful and quiet. I am not a party animal -so that’s explaining why I prefer these places. I’ve once stayed at Temoyong, which is quite secluded and has fantastic views. Wherever I stay -other than holiday, I love shopping in Langkawi. Because of it’s duty free status -you can get plenty of things , among others ~chocolocates, clothing, household items which includes corelle : ) much cheaper than the main lain. Not forgetting cigarettes and liquor. So it’s a shopping heaven for people like me ~ does does not please my other’s half very much , though ,he he.
Food are relatively cheap too..specially seafood -they are fresh and there are plenty of sea food restaurans surrounding the island. You can take the cable car up to Gunung Macincang, go snorkeling, fishing and hire boats to get to those small islands -they are so amazing and beautiful ~ you wont regret. Transportations are cheap if you hire a car -but the secret is dont go during long public holiday i.e festives seasopn like Chinese New Year, Hari raya and school holidays and also end of the year -prices will definately go up-both accomodations and hiring cars -yo definately have to go deeper in your pocket.
- Pantai Tengah sunrise
To go to Langkawi you can take a flight straight from KL or any other place in the world -it’s realtively cheaper to go by air from KLIA now. Or you can also drive up to Kuala Kedah or Kuala Perlis, and take the boat from these two places. The journey is shorter from Kuala Perlis -about 45 minutes, but would be slightly longer from Kuala Kedah. Cars are available for rent at both place -airport and the Jeti. You have to bargain for best price. Used to pay for RM70 per day for a brand new Nissan Sentra . So do your homework . You can get a luxury car at a relatively great price here -being a duty free place again -that is. So the idea of having a bridge connecting Pulau Langkawi and the mainland wont be that great, right -it will probably be like Penang -which use to be duty free once -when I was very little.
A recommended holiday destination in a Malaysia -A must!

My favourite lunch place in Kuah town”
Love this place. Beautiful Thai restaurant owned by an ever smiling and sweet Thai Muslim lady who is mostly seen in the restaurant most days.
We often stop by Wan Thai for lunch at least once during our trips to Langkawi. It's good value for money, it's truly good Thai food and the service is always friendly. Two persons can eat well for RM70 (meal and drinks).
Our fave dishes here must be the otak-otak in coconut. We order this dish all the time. It's rich and flavourful, with enough seafood like prawns, squid and fish in a creamy and mild spiced curry base that's redolent of fresh coconut cream. Great with steamed rice.
The other dishes are commendable too....their Tomyam Seafood Soup is not too spicy, very well done unlike other places which get their spice levels wrong.
Don't forget to try their mango ice blended drinks. Thick and full of mango chunks.
Also, their Thai desserts are good too..... try them all. ;-) Yummy.

Musing Out Loud: Langkawi
Langkawi was often advertised in the local classifieds, packaged with tours for the Singaporean families to embark on, thus it has always appeared to me as an ‘uncool’ destination.
However, the wikitravel page seems interesting enough, and everybody that I know that has been to Langkawi told me there are many monkeys to be seen, so I decided to plan a trip to Langkawi for my 4th anniversary.
Langkawi was just under 1.5hours flight from Singapore, a gem of an island, off the northwestern coast of Malaysia, lies just south of Thailand, and was once under Thai rule, which explains the strong Thai influences there.
Accomodation
I scoured through travel sites and tripadvisor to help me decide on a nice place to stay, and I had opted for Casa Del Mar, on the Pantai Cenang side of the island, with a great view of sunset. Casa Del Mar was also top on the tripadvisor list for their cosy and comfortable beds, personalised services and proximity to the local shops, which I thought was very suitable to what we were looking for.
